Day 1-Windsor Castle

We made it to London!  The journey here was, thankfully, uneventful.  If you've never flown Virgin Atlantic before, we can highly recommend it based on our trip here.  The students did a magnificent job getting through security and making it to our departure gate on time.

One thing we loved the Virgin Atlantic flight was the positive and happy crew .  We were told about the "magnificent" flight, the "exceptional" staff, the "beautiful" this, the "amazing" that...it was lovely.  In addition, I noticed that they seem to rather enjoy using uncommon words, such as when we were told about the "disembarkation" door-what we know as the exit door.  They were also refreshingly honest.  When we were preparing to disembark through the disembarkation door and there was an issue with the "jetty", the captain announced that it looked like they would be able to fix the issue, however, "no one is talking to me right now", so she couldn't be certain!

Once on the ground, the weary travelers gathered the luggage and instruments to head to the coaches.  We were greeted by our local guides, Almar and Jasmine.  There was just enough time for a 15 minute nap before arriving at Windsor Castle.  The castle has been home to the British royalty for over 800 years.  Although we have seen the castle many times in photos, it is hard to fathom the size and scope of the estate.  Students and chaperones enjoyed a few hours to explore the area and have lunch before boarding the coaches again to head to the hotel.

We enjoyed dinner together at a nearby pizza restaurant before returning to the hotel to get rested up for our first performance tomorrow.  I hope you enjoy a few photos of our adventures today.  The internet connection at the hotel is proving to be quite challenging, so I apologize for the limited photos from today.

Just another quick reminder-remember to bookmark the blog www.nchsbandlondon.blogspot.com and just visit it daily now.  The e-mail notifications are quite delayed and you may not be able to see the photos!
